National American Indian Congress Hosts Roundtable

to Discuss Relations with African Americans

November, 2000

For the first time, the National American Indian Congress will feature a special Round Table discussion on the subject of American Indians and  their relations with African Americans. This round table discussion is scheduled to take place at the annual meeting on November, 14th, 2000 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The round table will feature noted scholars and historians, among them, Dr. Daniel Littlefield, Dr. Patrick Minges, Dr. Willard Johnson, Dr. David Wilkins, and Ms Deborah Tucker. The round table will be moderated by Wilma Mankiller, former Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.

This meeting is unique because it is being presented in an American Indian venue. The symposium at Dartmouth College in April was a neutral setting for that event.  This event is being presented in the midst of an annual American Indian gathering, and it has been co-planned by a former principal chief of one of the largest American Indian Tribes.  Many eyes will be upon this event and the reception that this topic receives in St. Paul.
